Nokia, being able to sell 126 million units of its original 3310 phone in September 2000, is coming back to life with a touch of modern classic. It was a time before the rise of iPhones, and Nokia ruled the mobile phone industry popularizing the handsets that let you play simple mobile app games like Snake.
Nokia 3310: A modern classic reimagined
The 3310 is making its nostalgic return and showcasing a form of a more modern, yet classic variant, thanks to the Nokia-branded phone maker, HMD. Like the once before this new 3310, it will still be called the Nokia 3310, but this time, it is running with the Nokia’s Series 30+ software. It also has a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a 2-megapixel camera, and even a microSD slot.
These technical specifications are still fairly the basic compared to the most recent and modern phone standards. However, that is the beauty of such a basic-featured phone.
Unlike the brick-like sturdiness, which users all love of the old 3310, the new version of the handset with the same name, carries a modern variant in a little smaller, thinner, and lighter. The new 3310 is also a lot more colorful, accompanied with the glossy warm yellow and red colors, and matte gray and dark blue models.
It is instantly recognizable as a Nokia phone, and HMD has even included a modern Snake game on the handset to have a nostalgic feel to it.
The browser Opera Mini is bundled with capabilities to a basic web surfing, but the real selling point is battery life. Just like most handsets, standby time on the Nokia 3310 is 31 days, and a talk time of 22 hours. That’s a massive amount of battery life.
