Globe has already activated and optimized its Voice Over LTE or VoLTE service in at least 25 provinces all over the country. The company says these developments have made it possible for more postpaid customers to access the service, improving the voice call experience.
Globe’s VoLTE service now available in 25 provinces in the Philippines
These provinces include Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Metro Manila, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Rizal, Tarlac and Zambales in Luzon. VoLTE is also now 100% available in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Cebu, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor in Visayas and in Bukidnon, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Guimaras, Misamis Oriental in Mindanao.
“VoLTE is one of the better solutions and technologies that will greatly improve the mobile experience of our postpaid customers as they face the challenges of dealing with this pandemic,” said Ernest Cu, Globe President, and CEO.
VoLTE is the standard high-speed wireless communication for mobile phones using 4G LTE instead of the traditional voice networks being used by 2G and 3G.
VoLTE has three times more voice capacity than in 3G and up to six times more compared to 2G calls. Moreover, it provides customers with better call quality at a shorter setup time compared with regular voice calls.
VoLTE likewise allows customers to stay connected in LTE while on a call. This feature is very useful for people who are avid gamers or fond of posting and streaming videos on the Internet.
Postpaid customers in these 25 provinces are encouraged to check if their mobile phone is VoLTE-capable, read about new VoLTE-ready locations, or find what they need to know about VoLTE through these Online FAQs. Globe postpaid customers may also check the online FAQs for more information.
Initial reactions to VoLTE and VoWiFi were very positive. One customer said “Globe is always innovating. I like its VoLTE and other privileges. It is customer-friendly.” Another satisfied customer added, “my request to activate VoLTE was real-time.” A third customer said, “Sana all areas ma-activate na ang VoLTE and VoWiFi calling.” (Hopefully, VoLTE, and VoWiFi calls will be activated on all areas.)
Globe’s aggressive builds and network expansion have made it possible for customers to elevate their call, SMS and data browsing experience.
According to Ookla®’s Q1 2021 data1, the telco’s nationwide consistency score is now more than 70 percent. Metro Manila registered the best score with more than 76 percent while high marks were also noted in Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, Cebu City, and Davao City.
Consistency Score measures what percentage of a provider’s samples equals or exceeds both a download and upload threshold.
Globe likewise registered improved latency with an average of 33ms for the first quarter which is well below the 50ms winning standard set by gamers.1
