Since December 18, 2019, Globe has been sending text messages to customers who continue to use their old and obsolete SIMs. If you received a message, just go to your nearest Globe Store to get a SIM replacement. Switching to a Long-Term Evolution (or LTE) SIM is FREE of charge and very easy. You will retain your old number when you switch to an LTE SIM card.

How do you know if you have an old and obsolete SIM? You can check if you are still using a 3G SIM simply by texting SIM Check to 8080.

Having an LTE SIM offers a lot of benefits that will elevate and change your mobile digital experience.

For starters, latching to the LTE network empowers users with higher speed, a must especially for gamers, people on the go or those who really need information fast. But more importantly, having an LTE SIM provides better mobile data experience.

Upgrade your old SIM to LTE SIM while keeping your old number

Upgrade and level up your old SIM card to the LTE SIM card. Follow a step-by-step guide on how to change to an LTE SIM while keeping your old number:

STEP 1: Using your old Prepaid SIM card, text UPGRADE to 8080. Remember to back up your SIM contacts and messages to your phone’s internal or external memory.

– Don’t share the unique upgrade code to anybody.
– Memorize or take note of your upgrade code.
– Your upgrade code is only valid for 15 minutes.

STEP 2: Insert the new Globe Prepaid Upgrade SIM on your phone.

The menu should appear within five minutes—any delay may depend on your phone model.

STEP 3: Enter the 6-digit upgrade code on the prompt, then press OK.

STEP 4: After entering the upgrade code, restart your phone once prompted.

STEP 5: You’ll receive a confirmation message once the upgrade is successful.
